TOP PICK

CIRCUIT RIDER- CIRCUIT RIDER LP (the bookworm, usa)

*Authorized exact replica reissue of this private press LP from approx 1980? or so. Recorded in Norwalk, CT; edition of 800 copies. This is the ultimate burnout biker-psych masterpiece. Finally repressed directly from tapes to flawlessly restore the cigarette burns, Harley fumes, and cocaine hangovers of the original ride. This is a 40 minute recipe for complete mental breakdown. Included on the Acid Archives' list of Top Ten LPs Most Likely To Be Owned By A Serial Killer. Circuit Rider is lost on the same journey as Kenneth Higney, Nicodemus & Matchez, YaHoWa, Boa, Heitkotter, Dave Lamb & Gye Whiz, Raven, Fraction, and The Doors' L.A. Woman. “...projects visions of a biker high on PCP driving over a cliff at 100 mph, laughing and screaming all the way." -- Patrick Lundborg, The Acid Archives

LABEL SPOTLIGHT: NUMERO GROUP

BOSCOE- BOSCOE LP (numero group, usa)
16.98usd/10.11gbp/11.36eur/1513jpy (approx)

*Combining the spiritual soul and funk of Earth, Wind, & Fire with the proto-rap of the Last Poets and the cosmic jazz of Pharaoh Sanders, Boscoe's lone album has long eluded bootleggers and the collector elite. At last, and via Numero's * imprint, this Chicago spiritual soul jazz masterstroke will see the light of day. Impeccably remastered and housed in a CD gatefold sleeve with a booklet full of copious liner notes, personal testaments from the group, and never-before-seen archival material, this thirty-five year old album is a must for anyone interested in soul's secret history.

WEE- YOU CAN FLY ON MY AEROPLANE 2LP (asterisk, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*The second in a trilogy of Columbus, Ohio soul albums to be issued on Numero's Asterisk imprint comes from the twisted pen and mind of Norman Whiteside. His lone album, under the pseudonym Wee, is firmly ensconced in Innervisions-era Stevie Wonder, with nary a trace of his work as a writer for Bill Moss' Capsoul label a few years prior. Smooth, sexy, and synthy, You Can Fly On My Aeroplane is a peerless sprawling psychedelic soul concept album. The original nine-song LP has been expanded to nineteen, including seven previously-unreleased panty soakers. Lovers rejoice.

CATHERINE HOWE- WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE CD (numero group, usa)
14.98usd/8.92gbp/10.02eur/1335jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… The first ever compact disc issue of Catherine Howe's brilliant debut album. Produced by legendary jazz pianist Bobby Scott, the album is a pastoral blend of English countryside folk and London orchestral pop, not unlike Nick Drake's Bryter Layter or Bridget Saint John's Songs For a Gentle Man. Originally released on Reflection Records in 1970, the much sought after album disappeared after only a few months in the racks. Lovingly restored by The Numero Group (the label that Paste magazine calls 'America's finest music archivists'), the original 12 song album has been fully re-mastered, includes bonus tracks, a thoroughly researched history of the album, and a tidy slip case tying it to the rest of the Numero library.

FERN JONES- THE GLORY ROAD CD (numero group, usa)
14.98usd/8.92gbp/10.02eur/1335jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… She sounded like Saturday night on a Sunday morning. Patsy on Jesus. Elvis without the pelvis. A mother, a wife, even an ordained minister. In the space of twenty years Fern Jones would perform in over 2,000 tents and churches for nearly 50,000 people. She'd release two albums and a few impossibly rare 78s, and write one song that would be a classic on the gospel circuit for years to come. So why hasn't anyone ever heard of Fern Jones? How is her record selling on Ebay for less than $15? How is it possible that rockabilly scholars can tell you every detail about the players on Fern's album, but not a single thing about her? In what world can a musician be covered by Jimmie Davis, the Blackwood Brothers, Jimmy Swaggart, and even The Man In Black himself, Johnny Cash, and yet register not so much as a footnote in any history of country or gospel music? How could something so wonderful be so impossibly obscure? From a purely historical perspective, we knew we had to release this record. Singing A Happy Song had not one, not two, but four members of Nashville's prestigious A-team fresh off June 1958 sessions with Elvis. On guitar was Hank 'Sugarfoot' Garland (Roy Orbison, Marty Robbins, Conway Twitty, Hank Williams Sr., Everly Brothers), Floyd Cramer played piano (Bobby Bare, Patsy Cline, Wings, Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins), Joe Zinkan on bass (Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn), and the lovable Buddy Harman on drums (Reba McEntire, Hank Snow, Willie Nelson). Why this towering foursome was backing up a preacher's wife from Arkansas is anyone's guess. The lone album Fern Jones released on Dot Records in 1959 was the culmination of almost 20 years on the gospel highway. Singing A Happy Song was Sister Fern bringing the same untamed energy to church music that young white Southerners were bringing to their rock n' roll.

PISCES- A LOVELY SIGHT LP (numero group, usa)
16.98usd/10.11gbp/11.36eur/1513jpy (approx)

*By the late '60s, radio-delivered psychedelia had saturated even the heartland. A Lovely Sight, Pisces' only attempt at an LP, never made wax; but the fuzz guitar phrases and tambourine shuffle of 'Dear One' instantly illustrate the band's woozy realm. Deeper inside, bass scales borrowed from Sgt. Pepper give way to Who moves wrecked by bad fidelity and harsh intrusions of found audio. Jefferson Airplane's swirled, lysergic Haight Street utopia melds with the urban narcosis of the Velvet Underground's East Village. But Pisces hailed from another ghost town altogether: Rockford, Illinois, where rusted, endless plains bear close resemblance to a bummer acid trip or a junkie's rock bottom. In 1969, the industrial Midwest was hurting for the hard stuff, but what it got was plenty of the White Album -- enough to have Jim Krein, Paul DiVenti, and Linda Bruner recording through a glass onion all their own. The unsettling balance of their unissued LP combines homespun psychedelic vision and secondhand studio trickery with naive readings of the rock sound of the day, resulting in a diverse, haunted rock headspace few coastal bands ever flew through, let alone over.

24-CARAT BLACK- GONE: THE PROMISES OF YESTERDAY LP (numero group, usa)
23.98usd/14.28gbp/16.04eur/2137jpy (approx)

*An era was finding its end. Union Planters National Bank had finally pulled up the roots of Stax Records, leaving hundreds of musicians locked out of 926 East McLemore and the Chicago chapter of 24-Carat Black on the hook for months spent in the studio. Their debut album, a commercial and financial disaster, was par for the course during Al Bell's reign as the Memphis label's head. Rediscovered in the early '90s by Britain's rare groove scene, Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth has since been known as 24-Carat Black's first and final chapter, barely a footnote in the well documented history of Stax. Dale Warren's brainchild band simply pushed past their concept's conclusion, piling up dozens of reels for an intimate follow-up album that no one in the world wanted to hear. With their ambitious LP downgraded to cutout status when Stax finally shuttered in 1975, 24-Carat Black found themselves watching their moment recede in the rearview. In his post-Ghetto work, Dale Warren had clearly aimed for a complete reinvention, of both his band and his songwriting past. Of more than 20 songs he considered for the 24-Carat Black follow-up, we've refurbished the six that hadn't flaked off their reels. Gone: The Promises Of Yesterday is by no means a sequel to Ghetto: Misfortune's Wealth. Missing are the poignant and bleak sermons on the pain of inner-city existence, replaced by dusky, sensuous re-workings of love songs Warren had written as far back as 1965. Wildly divergent in tone, scope, and mission, the second 24-Carat Black album is tethered to the first by a single, crucial element: its creator.

V/A- CULT CARGO: BELIZE CITY BOIL UP 2LP (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Samba Soul. Afro-beat. Reggae. What were once loose-fitting descriptions for American influenced homegrown R&B, are now but common parlance in the lexicon of genre classification. These regional movements all yielded monumental sonic innovations that returned to America with tidal force, eventually flooding the world with third world treasure. The music of Detroit and Memphis were quite possibly America's largest cultural export of the 1960s, spawning imitators with every radio wave that whispered 'I've got sunshine... or Sittin' in the morning sun... into the fertile ear of the uninitiated. For every Nigeria there were ten Ghana's, and every shiny Brazilian soulster had his counterpart in Peru, Argentina, and Columbia. Good news travels fast, and as the gospel of American soul hit the beaches of Trinidad, the Bahamas, and in this case, Belize, it was as though the Gods had not just spoken, but sung. A Cargo Cult is what happens when one culture begins worshipping the byproducts of another. Cult Cargo is the unexpected result of that devotion. It is here in these sixty odd minutes that The Numero Group unveils a style of music completely unknown to the greater world before we dragged it from the beaches of Belize. The national dish of Belize is made with a diverse mixture of ingredients, pig's tail, potatoes, plantains, bananas, boiled eggs, yams, whole fish, thrown in a pot, and boiled to perfection. They call it a Boil Up. The music of this collection combines equal parts of R&B, calypso, disco, funk, reggae, bruckdown, soul, folk, and whatever else can be found back on the bottom shelf of the musical pantry. This too is called Boil Up, and it's anything but leftovers.

V/A- DON'T STOP: RECORDING TAP 3LP/CD (numero group, usa)
34.98usd/20.82gbp/23.39eur/3118jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… In January of 2006 the Numero Group found itself sitting three wide on a weight bench in a damp garage. Eight hours later, we peeled out of the driveway with a thirty-seven tape mystery. Though Jeremiah Yisrael's Tap label only issued a handful of 12"s between 1981-83, the tape deck never stopped rolling, producing dozens of lavish songs in disco's last days. From the string-heavy sugar boogie of Jackie Stoudemire and Arnie Love to pioneering raps by Missy Dee & the Melody Crew and the Fabulous 3 MCs, Recording Tap covers a wide swath of New York's all night sound. The triple LP set includes ten bonus tracks, miniature song book, expansive booklet stuffed with photos and memorabilia and a CD copy of the album, all housed in a replica tape box. Includes rare and unreleased recordings by Arnie & the Lovettes, Annette Denvil, Bonnie Freeman, the Fabulous 3 MCs, Missy Dee & the Melody Crew, Magnetism, and Jackie Stoudemire.

V/A- ECCENTRIC SOUL: SMART'S PALACE 2LP (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*Smart's Palace was anything but royal. Beyond the bloodlines of the Smart Brothers and their jester brother Leroy, the only kings and queens to be discovered there were JB and Aretha playing on the Wurlitzer. However, between 1963-1975 the club held court for the entire Wichita, Kansas soul scene. At its heart was Dick Smart, bassist, club owner, DJ, record store owner, promoter, and sole proprietor of the Solo label. Collected here for the first time is the story and songs that came out of this thriving, if not totally unknown scene. Housed in Numero's signature slipcase, the 19 track disc features Theron & Darrell, Baby Neal, Chocolate Snow, L.T. & the Soulful Dynamics, Fred Williams & the Jewels Band, and The Hard Road, on labels like Solo, Kanwic, Vantage, and Lee-Mac, all fully annotated with a ransom of pictures, posters, and ephemera fit for a king.

V/A- ECCENTRIC SOUL: THE YOUNG DISCIPLES 2LP (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… By 1967, East St. Louis, once dubbed an 'All-American' city by the U.S. Chamber Of Commerce, had become St. Louis, Missouri's evil twin. Unemployment, drug addiction and vicious gang activity put a dark and heavy lid on a bi-state area that once cooked-up world-changing talent the likes of Chuck Berry, Josephine Baker and Miles Davis. But both cities still spawned heroes, and Allen Merry was one of them. Already a living legend for his early work with Ray Charles and Ike Turner, Merry channeled his talent into teaching, forming the Young Disciples through the South End Community Center to keep the kids off the streets, out of the gangs and into the studio, where young men and women spiraling downward could ride the spiral groove upward on Merry's YoDi, Gateway and Merry labels. With nearly 80 local youths involved from both sides of the Mississippi, the Young Disciples (named for one of the area's most notorious gangs) encompassed solo acts, duos, male and female vocal groups, a massive horn section and a troupe of African dancers. Every sweat-drenched recording included here emerged from this grass-roots organization that changed, if not saved, lives. Former East St. Louis Mayor Carl Officer had a slogan he liked to pitch: 'There's A City Under Here.' Here's the musical proof of that possibility.

V/A- ECCENTRIC SOUL: THE OUTSKIRTS OF DEEP CITY 2LP (numero group, usa)
23.98usd/14.28gbp/16.04eur/2137jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Instead of rehashing and expanding upon an already established story, The Outskirts of Deep City serves to color in the spaces left open by its predecessor. In addition to seven previously unissued tracks, we've added thirteen other related gems from the Solid Soul, Sun Cut, Reedsville, Lloyd, and Concho labels, and four LP-only bonus cuts. Old style tip-on gatefold sleeve for the vinyl, featuring a wealth of unpublished photographs, an appendix, bibliography, and discography. Featuring unheard cuts by Clarence Reid, Helene Smith, Betty Wright, Frank Williams & the Rocketeers, Johnny K Killens & the Dynamites, James Knight & the Butlers, Deep City Band, The Rising Sun, The Rollers, Perk Badger, Snoopy Dean, Nasty Dog Catchers, and Lynn Williams.

V/A- ECCENTRIC SOUL: THE PRIX LABEL CD (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Three years after the release of our landmark Capsoul Collection, we return to the scene of the crime, Columbus, Ohio, to unearth their crosstown rival: The Prix Label. The tiny imprint released less than a dozen singles between 1969-1973, but one look at the Prix archives told us that the tape never stopped rolling. In addition to choice cuts from their catalog, we've included four previously unreleased masters and a slew of demos. The 19 track CD features Marion Black, Eddie Ray, The Royal Esquires, OFS Unlimited, The Soul Ensemble, Mitch Mitchell, Chip Willis, Penny & The Quarters, and Joe King.

V/A- ECCENTRIC SOUL: TWINIGHT'S LUNAR ROTATION 2CD (numero group, usa)
32.98usd/19.63gbp/22.06eur/2939jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… this is the Big Dig, the Tutankamen of R&B: Twinight. After two years of interviews, cold calls, storage spaces, half truths, unknowns, and dead ends, we've finally completed a large piece of Chicago's secret soul history. Eccentric Soul: Twinight's Lunar Rotation takes a look beyond their hit maker Syl Johnson, and instead focuses on the records that never had a shot at the charts. It's the story of struggling disc jockeys moonlighting as producers, high school talent show winners, major label cast offs, minor label upgrades, girlfriends with decent voices, and master purchases traded for chart position. It happened after midnight, and it happened right here in our backyard. Comprising 40 tracks in all by 22 artists, among them Renaldo Domino, Dynamic Tints, Annette Poindexter, Nate Evans, Radiants, Notations, Mystiques, Kaldirons, Perfections, Mist, Harrison & The Majestic Kind, Schiller Street Gang, Velma Perkins, Jimmy Jones, Sidney Pinchback, Stormy, Johnny Williams, Elvin Spencer and Pieces Of Peace. This comprehensive two CD set includes a complete label history (32 pages), a baker's dozen of unpublished photos and three unreleased tracks, including two that were only rumored to exist.

V/A- ECCENTRIC SOUL: THE CAPSOUL LABEL 2LP (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Short for 'Capital City Soul,' the Columbus Ohio Capsoul label's history spans only five short years throughout the 1970's. Founded by Bill Moss, a local singer and DJ at WVKO in Columbus, Capsoul released just a dozen 45's and one highly sought after LP resulting in a few regional hits. Numero 001 is a compilation of nineteen tracks spanning the label's all but forgotten history. The album features Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr, The Kool Blues, Ronnie Taylor, the Four Mints, Bill Moss, Elijah and the Ebonites and Marion Black. The soul is there by the bucketful -- sweet '70s gems by such little-known artists as Marion Black, Bill Moss, and the staggering Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr -- but there's nothing particularly esoteric or unusual about the music. To the contrary, it goes down as smoothly as that of Marvin Gaye, the JBs, the Four Tops, and other R&B legends.

V/A- LOCAL CUSTOMS: DOWNRIVER REVIVAL 2LP/DVD (numero group, usa)
25.98usd/15.47gbp/17.38eur/2315jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Between 1967 and 1981 Detroit's downriver neighbor Ecorse, MI had its very own Moe Asch. Set up in a basement on 18th Avenue, Felton Williams' Double U Sound chronicled the musical lives of Ecorse's citizens and issued them on the Solid Rock, Compose, and Revival labels. Compiled here are 24 of Williams' most fascinating recordings, covering gospel, group soul, garage-punk, northern, jazz, and funk. Also included in the 2LP package is a DVD of the nearly 200 sound recordings pulled from his archives and a 30 minute documentary on the making of Downriver Revival. Deluxe 2LP set contains 24 prime tracks from the Double U archives housed in a thick gatefold sleeve with a tipped in booklet stuffed with photos and detailed notes on the recordings. DVD contains a virtual vault for a 'dig your own' experience. Artists include Shirley Ann Lee, Gospel Supremes, Coleman Family, Calvin Cooke, Bobby Cook & the Explosions, Organics, Combinations, Apostles Of Music, Deliverance Echoes, The Young Generation, Junior Mays Group, The Burgess Band, Mighty Voices Of Wonder and Voices Of Deliverance.

V/A- SOUL MESSAGES FROM DIMONA 2LP (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… The Numero Group discovers yet another stop on the soul diaspora tour: Dimona, Israel. Between 1975-1981, a group of American ex-pats took the native sounds of their Detroit and Chicago homes, combines them with the messages of the Israeli Black Hebrew culture and declared Dimona the center of the spiritual universe. The results are a joyful mix of spiritual soul, jazz, and Old Testament gospel psychedelia. Featuring the Soul Messengers, the Spirit Of Israel, Sons Of The Kingdom, and the Tonistics, Soul Messages From Dimona is the only living document of a thriving community at both the center and edge of the world. Deluxe CD and 2LP set comes stuffed with rare pictures, sleeves and expansive liner notes about the African Hebrew Israelites' journey from the sounds of slavery to the intonations of liberty.

V/A- WAYFARING STRANGERS: LONESOME HEROES 2LP (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*The standard route for popular music -- songwriter to publisher to label to artist -- survived the '60s only to be overrun by a generation of folkies agog at giants strumming in the rearview. They were inspired by iconoclasts from Charley Patton to Woody Guthrie, artists entirely reliant on one guitar, one voice, and one's own words. But our heroes were not the agrarian luddites of yesterfolk. They cheered when Dylan plugged in and were rapt when Lennon and McCartney modernized songcraft, making the studio process just as important to song creation as setting the chords and words down. The resultant work wasn't as readily reduced to words on paper as the Broadside pages that preceded them -- success relied heavily on the way these songs were captured and transmitted: the sound of the room, the turn of a phrase, the odd way a piano got mic'ed, or the way a guitar fell perfectly out of tune. As long as the end result was somber, dark, and meditative, it didn't matter if it was a conscious choice or a happily unhappy accident. Each of our lonesome heroes began his journey from a wildly divergent place. Some of the stops may been similar, but each was made in different ways at different times for different reasons. All these travellers somehow found their ultimate destination on this disc. From artists who never played one professional gig to those that never stopped playing professionally, whose only shared experience is a journey set upon with no known end, sharing their thoughts, emotions and dreams with a lonely few along the way. Male singer/songwriter companion to Numero 008, Wayfaring Strangers: Ladies From The Canyon and Numero 018, Wayfaring Strangers: Guitar Soli. 17 rare tracks by folk unknowns Jim Schoenfeld, Jim Ransom, Richard Smyrnios, Tucker Zimmermann, Kierian White, Les Moore, Rob Carr, Jack Hardy, George Cromarty, Jay Bolotin, Tony Trosley, Roger Lewis, Tim Ward, David Kaufmann, John Villemonte, Bob Brown and Robb Kunkel.

V/A- WAYFARING STRANGERS: LADIES FROM THE CANYON CD (numero group, usa)
19.98usd/11.89gbp/13.36eur/1781jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Compilaton of obscure and unknown 1970s female folk artists, featuring Becky Severson, Collie Ryan, Linda Rich, Caroline Peyton, Carla Sciaky, Judy Kelly, Shira Small, Jennie Pearl, Mary Perrin, Priscilla Quinby, Marj Snyder, Barbara Sipple, Ginny Reilly & Ellen Warshaw. For those looking to go beyond the Perhacs/Sill resurgence, this is a pretty insightful set, well documented in Numero-style. By 1970 the folk revival was all but over. Gone were the days of 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' and 'If I Had A Hammer.' ABC's Hootenanny had been cancelled. Broadside was out, Rolling Stone in. Richard Farina was dead. Dylan plugged in. Joan Baez and Judy Collins gave way to a younger, more introspective generation of songwriters. The sound that began in the hills and caught fire on the lower east side of Manhattan was now being reborn in the canyons of California. The fruits of folk's second renaissance are collected here. Wedged beneath the infrastructure of the music business, playing in coffee houses and at church picnics. Deeper than recent crit-revisionist darlings Linda Perhacs, Judee Sill, or Vashti Bunyan, Ladies From The Canyon takes a solid look at folk's private and obscure underbelly.

V/A- YELLOW PILLS: PREFILL 2CD (numero group, usa)
32.98usd/19.63gbp/22.06eur/2939jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Jordan Oakes began publishing his seminal power pop 'zine, Yellow Pills in the summer of 1990 out of pure teenage puppy love for riffing, jangly guitars, fake British accents and harmonizing voices that ache with pimply adolescent yearning. In 1993 Jordan curated his initial Yellow Pills release, the first of a series collecting power pop essentials from 20/20, Dwight Twilley, The Rubinoos, The Plimsouls, and five dozen others. The series rapidly became the sonic rosetta stone for a newer generation of poppers who, sans the skinny ties, held true to the power pop manifesto of harmony, melody and ringing, rocking 6 and 12 string guitars. The archaeological artifacts of power pop soon found a home in living museums of the genre from Teenage Fan Club to Green Day. The 33 tracks assembled here represent the least-heard, best examples of an era that felt nostalgic even the first time around. But heard in the context of today's 'pop' music industry as it lip syncs itself into history's cut-out bin, these 'hopefuls' sound as startling and menthol-fresh as the word 'Liverpool' drifting from Jane Asher's lips. Artists: Luxury, Tweeds, Colors, Speedies, Shoes, Sponsors, Bats, Randy Winburn, Toms, Kids, Treble Boys, Tommy Rock, Finns, Tactics, Trend, LMNOP, Jack Stack A Track, Brat.

9.98usd/5.94gbp/6.67eur/889jpy (approx)

*Obscure South Carolina Disco - Produced by Wilbert Harris in his home studio. Harris has a number of releases ranging from disco to RnB to rap. Keep an eye out for some of his other original titles… good luck! backed with Caprice "Candy Man" coming at you from Illinois. This group, led by Elliot Lipford was slated to be on Ed McMahon's StarSearch. As Elliot told me, "we just ran out of money and we never made it to the show".. Vocalist Larnette Winston is the sister of Apollonia, and you'll know Henry Clash from his work Prince in the 80s. Incredible line-up that delivers with this sharp mid-tempo track.

(peoples potential unlimited, usa) 9.98usd/5.94gbp/6.67eur/889jpy (approx)

*Originally released in 1983 on the legendary Bevnik label out of Baltimore Maryland. It took over two years to track down the artist James Carter for this release. James Carter has written numerous hit records, check out his credits below. But listen to the Checker Kabb First! backed with Rejuvenate the FONK… We had to get this Oklahoma artist back on vinyl. Morris Rentie Jr's high school group! Listen to Rentie's slap bass mastery even at the young age of 18.

JAZZ

DALINDÈO FEAT. BAJKA- VINTAGE VOYAGE 12” (ricky-tick, finland)
9.98usd/5.94gbp/6.67eur/889jpy (approx)

*Dalindèo introduces a new cinematic sound on “Vintage Voyage.” Dalindèo leader Valtteri Pöyhönen sees the band moving away from their early “Brazilica” influences into a world of sound with increasingly visual connotations. The new EP introduces a more hard-driving, perhaps a bit more “live” sound for the band than that heard on previous releases.

TIMO LASSY FEAT. JOSÉ JAMES- THE MORE I LOOK AT YOU 7” (ricky-tick, finland)
9.98usd/5.94gbp/6.67eur/889jpy (approx)

*Sax man Timo Lassy returns with a banger of a two-tracker. The new Ricky-Tick 7-inch features the tracks “The More I Look at You” (w/ José James) plus “Ya Dig.” On board with Lassy and his band is a very special guest from New York, the jazz voice of the 21st century, José James. The pairing of Lassy’s deep sax sound and James’s velvet of a voice is pretty much as perfect a match as you are likely to get. And as the evidence stands, that’s plenty and then some.

The upcoming offering finds Eskola in moods not unlike those championed by the famed label CTi some decades ago. That being said, this is jazz in the present tense with a distinctively fresh angle.
