V/A- DELTA DANDIES: DANCE BANDS IN NIGERIA 1936-1941 CD (savannaphone, uk)
13.98usd/7.90gbp/9.98eur/1483jpy (approx)

*Precious, magical glimpses of a buried tradition, already a century old by this time, when the orchestras typically supplemented guitars, mandolins and percussion with fifes and whatever could stand in for brass. No Fela, no high life without this joyful, open, fertile music, devotedly recovered and handsomely presented again by Savannaphone, with full translations, on a death-defying budget. Ambrose Campbell in the house!

15.98usd/9.03gbp/11.41eur/1695jpy (approx)

*New limited, dynamite four-track 12" from the Sofrito crew. 'Atlantic Conveyor,' 'Sofrito Edit,' 'Disco La Calle,' and 'Calypso Path.' Sultry, slowed-down, synthed-out disco meets Fela in a steel pan dancefloor riot. Not to be missed.

18.98usd/10.73gbp/13.55eur/2014jpy (approx)

*Roger Nichols co-authored some of the best known and biggest-selling pop hits of the 20th century, including 'We've Only Just Begun,' 'Rainy Days And Mondays,' and 'Let Me Be The One' by The Carpenters. His compositions have also been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Three Dog Night, The Monkees, and literally thousands of others. Before all that, he recorded what is today considered one of the most coveted of Sunshine Pop LPs, 1968's Roger Nichols And The Small Circle Of Friends. Fast forward 40 years(!) and Roger and Co. (which also includes Murray Macleod of The Parade) have emerged once again to offer up what will assuredly be considered another milestone in song-craft: Full Circle! This first-ever CD issue outside of Japan of Full Circle includes songs written by Roger in his late '60s heyday (eight of which were co-authored by Paul Williams, including their brand new collaboration, 'Look Around'). If that's not enough, the CD is supplemented by five exclusive '60s-era Roger Nichols demos, never before issued anywhere! The full-color booklet also includes rare, unpublished photos, lyrics, and blurbs.

HOYT AXTON- MY GRIFFIN IS GONE CD (omni recording company, australia)
19.98usd/11.29gbp/14.26eur/2120jpy (approx)

*Today Hoyt Axton is perhaps best known as the writer of such great songs as 'Greenback Dollar' (The Kingston Trio), 'The Pusher' (Steppenwolf) and 'Joy To The World' (Three Dog Night). Among the best of his records would be My Griffin Is Gone, his 1969 psych-folk opus. Running the gamut from pastoral musings like 'Way Before The Time Of Towns' to harrowing anti-war ruminations ('Beelzebub's Laughter') and moving meditations on drug abuse ('Snowblind Friend') the album was written and recorded during a time of personal hardship and LSD experimentation. This newly expanded edition features four mind-blowing tracks only available on 45 before and eight previously-unreleased tracks! Remastered in 2008 from the original Columbia master tapes with exclusive notes and rare photos.

HENSON CARGILL- A VERY WELL TRAVELLED MAN CD (omni recording company, australia)
19.98usd/11.29gbp/14.26eur/2120jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Here are the almost forgotten masterpieces of Henson Cargill, sourced directly from the Monument Records vault and presented for the first time on CD. Hear Henson's smooth baritone on 'None of My Business,' 'Four Shades of Love,' 'Going Backwards,' 'Wildflower,' 'Reprints (Plastic People)' and name-check Adolph Eichmann and Cecil B. DeMille in one song 'What's My Name?' Features the 1968 #1 hit 'Skip a Rope,' six country chart hits and 21 other pieces of lysergic, zen country pop! First time on CD! Deluxe collector's package featuring rare photos and exclusive liner notes. All tracks are in stereo and were remastered in 2005 from the original master tapes!

NORMA JEAN- I GUESS THAT COMES FROM BEING POOR CD (omni recording company, australia)
19.98usd/11.29gbp/14.26eur/2120jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… If talent and sincerity brought fame then everyone would know her name. Instead today Norma Jean is unjustly considered little more than a footnote in country music history. These fine recordings tell of a much greater story. By 1972, the spotlight had waned for Norma Jean, but it's also the year that she recorded her greatest album, the country-concept opus I Guess That Comes From Being Poor. Remastered and presented for the first time on CD, with highlights from the excellent Body And Mind and Another Man Loved Me Last Night LPs. Singing from the heart about her own humble beginnings and often troubled life, Norma Jean delivered stinging tales in a soaring voice and a sugar coating. Deluxe packaging, 16-page full color booklet with exclusive notes and rare photos.

BIFF ROSE- BIFF ROSE CD (omni recording company, australia)
19.98usd/11.29gbp/14.26eur/2120jpy (approx)

*Biff Rose is well known as a wordsmith, satirist and vivid prankster. A 'flower-power' Tom Lehrer exploding across rollicking canvases of song best illustrated on his 1968 album The Thorn In Mrs. Rose's Side and 1969's Children Of Light. What is far less well known is that Biff Rose also had a serious side. Divorced and cast adrift his self-titled 1970 album is solemn, heartfelt and an undiscovered gem in his catalog. Grand orchestrations swirl around lyrics awash with loss and contemplation as they ride above Biff's dexterous tickling of the ivories. 14 tracks remastered and on CD for the first time.

19.98usd/11.29gbp/14.26eur/2120jpy (approx)

*Here for the first time on one CD are two of his very finest 'concept' albums (both originally issued in 1967) The Cold Hard Facts Of Life and Soul Of A Convict plus a number of rare 45-only tracks and versions. Superb showmanship and earth-cracking sincerity abound as Porter's cast of inebriates, cutthroats and troubled souls are captured on wax in all their moribund glory. Remastered from the original tapes and complete with original artwork and exclusive liner notes, these albums were recorded at a time of great tumult in Porter's personal and professional life and are without doubt the darkest jewels in country music's crown. 30 tracks on one CD including the hits 'The Cold Hard Facts Of Life,' 'Julie,' and 'Be Proud Of Your Man.'

PORTER WAGONER- THE RUBBER ROOM CD (omni recording company, australia)
19.98usd/11.29gbp/14.26eur/2120jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… For the first time the darker, more poetic highlights of Porter Wagoner's astounding career have been compiled on CD. Includes many tracks that have never before been on CD. Deluxe collector's 16-page package featuring original LP artwork and exclusive liner notes. All tracks were remastered in 2006 from the original master tapes! Features a stunning, spine-tingling duet with Dolly Parton!

13.98usd/7.90gbp/9.98eur/1483jpy (approx)

*Special limited release by a secret top producer featuring two stunning remixes from Tomboy (Kitsune, Gomma). Get ready to see this rocket launch!

THE BEATMASTERS- ROCK THE HOUSE 2008 EDIT 12" (white label, uk)
12.98usd/7.34gbp/9.27eur/1377jpy (approx)

*Rock The House" gets the once over for a new lease of life in 2008. Originally released on Rhythm King In 1987, this old school hip house jam with a disturbing bell laden break down and kicking acid bassline punctuated by 'rock the house' vocals was an anthem at the time. A certain renowned Swedish producer, has cut this record apart for the 2008 floors, and added a chopped up club edit for good measure. Simple but effective this really does the trick. (phonica)

MR RAOUL K- EMOTION DU PEUL 12" (baobab, germany)
14.98usd/8.47gbp/10.69eur/1589jpy (approx)

*The follow up to Cercle Du Peul! After the adventurous journey into rather dubby territories with his recent release Himalaya, Mr. Raoul K graces our ears, minds and butts with the second release of his Peul series: Emotion Du Peul. This track is built around the sound of the N'Goni, a traditional West African string instrument. With his usual, thick layered and old-schoolish production, Mr. Raoul K joins African heritage and European modernism once again - to please your very own aural senses.

MR RAOUL K- HIMALAYA 12" (baobab, germany)
13.98usd/7.90gbp/9.98eur/1483jpy (approx)

*With his second release on Baobab Music, producer Mr. Raoul K heads into new territories. Like he did on his first release Le Cercle Peul, he combines traditional African instruments and the African approach to rhythm with European production techniques and soundscapes. This time he examines the depths of dub techno. This effort results in an epic musical journey, an almost soundtrack-esque piece of music that accompanies the travelling mind as easily as the dancing body. Mr. Raoul K manages to stay focused throughout this long trip through the land of haunting grooves and irie sounds with ease. Driving, yet calm at the very same moment. And full of surprises, too. The flipside delivers -- besides a condensed edit of 'Himalaya' -- a grooving piece of Afro-funk-goes-house, perfectly fitting in the sunnier time of the year. Fellow Ivorian Doungous delivers the infectious vocals to round out this track.

CLP- READY OR NOT 12" (boysnoize, germany)
13.98usd/7.90gbp/9.98eur/1483jpy (approx)

*CLP are Chris De Luca & Phon.O and this is their first release on Boysnoize Records. "Ready Or Not" and "Ain't Nobody Cooler" are unconventional combinations of intergalactic hip-hop, ghetto beats, sexy booty IDM and dirty techno that go beyond typical contemporary genre boundaries. Great remixes come from Diplo and his buddy DJ Sega and Mixhell who deliver fantastic reworks. New shit from Berlin, and it doesn't stink!

DEEON & SLUGO- GHETTO CLASSICS VOL.4 12" (dance mania, usa)
9.98usd/5.64gbp/7.13eur/1059jpy (approx)

*Deeon gives us ''Point It Out'' from 1996's ''DBG Project'' (DM150) and ''Telefon Luv'' from 1994's Playground Production Z (DM076). Slugo gives us ''A Blunt'' from ''Livin' That Ghetto Life'' (DM096) and ''Taris Sleeps Wild'' from ''Taris Is Paris'' (DM131). Classic Chicago ghetto house action!

11.98usd/6.77gbp/8.55eur/1271jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… three new leftfield cosmic disco edits. "Barbarians", a dj friendly edit of cult movie theme. "Chico", a perfect proto piano house tune, first time on 12". "Peter Wolf", an 80's fast driven European synth pop track.

TRUSME- WORKING NIGHT$ 2LP (fat city, uk)
25.98usd/14.68gbp/18.55eur/2757jpy (approx)

*This doublepack features three of the hard to find Love4Music black label 12''s that gave Trusme his name in early 2007. Five previously unreleased gems sit alongside firm favourites such as 'W.A.R.', 'At the Disco' and a new version of the house behemoth 'Nards', entitled 'Narda'. Covering many styles from soulful house, disco to afro beat and twisted funk.

BLACKBELT ANDERSEN- KUK AV STAL 12" (full pupp, norway
14.98usd/8.47gbp/10.69eur/1589jpy (approx)

*Full Pupp is back with a taster of things to come. Roadtested for months to great response, two hot new tracks from the forthcoming Blackbelt Andersen album.

V/A- LES EDITS DU GOLEM 2 12" (golem, france)
15.98usd/9.03gbp/11.41eur/1695jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… three new leftfield cosmic disco edits. "Barbarians", a dj friendly edit of cult movie theme. "Chico", a perfect proto piano house tune, first time on 12". "Peter Wolf", an 80's fast driven European synth pop track.

V/A- LES EDITS DU GOLEM 3 12" (golem, france)
15.98usd/9.03gbp/11.41eur/1695jpy (approx)

*shop favorite restocked… Spacerock is supposed to be a new track by a famous French production duo. It sounds pretty vintage late 70's space disco. On the flip two edits of oddball 70's psychedelic library music productions.

MAXIME DANGLES- POF 807 12" (k2, germany)
11.98usd/6.77gbp/8.55eur/1271jpy (approx)

*Maxime Dangles is a highly promising young artist. Fresh, ambitious and full of enthusiasm for techno music. After his contribution to the Kompakt Extra 039, he now has the chance to prove his skills with a solo release.

CHALLENGE- ZIMMER 12" (k2, germany)
11.98usd/6.77gbp/8.55eur/1271jpy (approx)

*You won't find anyone at the Kompakt headquarters that never had crush on a Tim Paris track. His Marketing imprint gave birth to some instant classics that probably also saved your day/night/morning at some point. His sound is difficult to pigeonhole as it oscillates between abstract, disco, '80s retro pop, minimal house, afterparty techno and uhm... whatever you want. It diffuses an earthy scent of unperfumed bodies which can be a nice thing. We're talking about natural fragrance rather than old sneakers. There's a lot of truthfulness in this music. It gives you the impression that you're at the right party. Challenge is Tim Paris with his friend Pete Herbert. They joined our family with what we call an anthem. Check out 'Zimmer' and wait until that men's choir kicks in. It can make the sun shine at day and night likewise. We've never heard something like this before and we never ever want to be without it anymore. This is buddy house.

MR. MAGNETIK- YOU'VE BEEN MAGNETIZED 12" (lektroluv, belgium)
12.98usd/7.34gbp/9.27eur/1377jpy (approx)

*Since the early '90s, Mr. Magnetik has been one of the key figures of the electronic music scene in the French-speaking southern part of Belgium. Apart from being a graphic designer, party promoter and DJ, Mr. Magnetik has now also started producing his own tracks. "You've Been Magnetized" has also been a killer in Dr. Lektroluv's DJ sets.

MONOBOX- THE REMIXES 2LP (logistic, france)
27.98usd/15.81gbp/19.98eur/2969jpy (approx)

*Robert Hood remixé par les meilleurs producteurs du moment. superbe double pack initiallement sorti sur les logistic 35,36 et hard to find 12"… Tracklisting: trade (pantytec remix), molecular reconstitution (dr. frankufen akenstein mix), trade (ricardo villalobos remix), trade (matthew dear remix).

PETAR DUNDOV- ESCAPEMENTS 4LP (music man, belgium)
25.98usd/14.68gbp/18.55eur/2757jpy (approx)

*This is the second full-length release from Croatian DJ/producer Petar Dundov. Dundov is a producer who runs his own Neumatik studio and multimedia company where he works as a sound engineer as well as producing his own take on techno, house and electronica. Escapements is his most accomplished work to date and features beautifully layered techno, hypnotic rhythms and shimmering melodies that make this a real landmark release. The lead single "Oasis" has been remixed by Substance & Vainqueur and follow-up singles will include mixes from Detroit's Echospace, Dub Kult and DFA's Gavin Russom. His last full-length release was in 2001, with the ambient album Sculptures 1-3 on Jeff Mills' Tomorrow label that preceded multiple 12" releases on Music Man. Running Man brought attention back to his music and also announced the direction and concept of Escapements. Fusing hypnotic rhythms, bubbling melodies, intricate atmospheres and a soundtrack-like quality, Escapements exists in a nocturnal post-club hinterland where the bass and beats still echo through your ears as night turns into day. Taking the listener from the club to a tripped-out dreamscape, Escapements brings musicality back to techno and shows that minimal need not be one-dimensional. Driving, thrilling and emotionally-charged, Escapements is set to cross the techno/house/trance divide and become one of the essential electronic albums of 2008.
